Woodworking Projects, Tools, and Shop Guides for DIY Builders
If you enjoy woodworking projects and spending time in the garage making things out of wood, you’re in the right place. I’m retired, woodworking is my hobby, and this site is where I share what I’m learning as I go — from small DIY builds to shop upgrades and the tools I use. Some things work, some don’t, but that’s part of the fun. Along the way, I’ve also found a few projects that can bring in a bit of side income, which helps pay for tools and materials.
What This Site Is About
This isn’t a big commercial workshop and it’s not a bunch of polished showroom projects either. Everything here comes from real builds done in a home shop. I focus on practical woodworking — things you can actually make, enjoy, and use without needing a huge space or a massive budget.
If you’re also learning as you go, easing into the hobby, or just looking for better ways to do things, you’ll probably feel right at home here.
Projects That Are Worth Building
Some projects are just for fun, and others are worth making again because people actually want them. I’ve put together a growing list of projects that make sense for a small shop and can be sold if you feel like turning your hobby into a little side hustle.
You can see those on the Profitable woodworking projects you can build and sell page, where I walk through what’s been working and why.
DIY Woodworking Ideas
Not every project needs to be a big deal. Sometimes you just want something you can build over a weekend and learn from. That’s what the DIY woodworking ideas section is for — small builds, shop projects, and simple ideas that are easy to try and satisfying to finish.
Most of these projects are also on my YouTube channel, where you can watch the builds come together step by step.
Tools and Shop Setup
I don’t buy tools just to collect them. If something earns a place in my shop, it’s because it makes the work easier, safer, or more enjoyable. I share what I use, what I’ve upgraded, and what I’d probably skip if I had to do it again.
This includes things like saws, dust collection, and even a few modern tools that help with jigs and small parts.
A Garage-Friendly Way of Working
Most of us aren’t working in big shops. We’re in garages, sheds, or spare rooms, and that’s exactly the perspective this site is built around. The projects and advice here are meant to fit into real life, not a magazine photo shoot.
If you like building things, learning as you go, and maybe making a little money on the side while you’re at it, take a look around. Pick a project, read a guide, or just browse for ideas. Woodworking should be enjoyable, not stressful — and if it helps keep the shop stocked with new tools, even better.
